Nicole C. Peniston, Psy.D. is a New Jersey Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has several years’ experience working with adults and children to assess and treat a variety of psychological and developmental disorders that affect functioning in home, at school or work, and in the community. She completed a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College, part of the City University of New York in 2003, and obtained a Master of Arts and a Doctorate of Psychology from Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology in 2015.
Dr. Peniston utilizes a collaborative strengths-based approach with an eclectic toolbox including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, emotion-focused, and systems-based approaches to offer creative, flexible, honest, and empathic treatment to meet individual needs and gain a better understanding of self, others, and the world around us. She also provides therapy to assist clients in tackling life stressors and interpersonal problems, meet personal goals, and enhance coping skills. She particularly enjoys helping patients explore and navigate cultural, racial, gender, and family identity issues.
Dr. Peniston is also currently able to offer Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) evaluations and re-evaluations for children and adults, as well as therapy for adolescents and adults on the spectrum who are having difficulty fitting into the regular educational, occupational, and/or social settings, especially during life transitions such as graduation from high school, beginning college, entering the workforce, or beginning a family.
Dr. Peniston currently offers in-person and telehealth services, accepts Aetna and self-pay, and can provide documentation for insurance reimbursement. She can offer morning, daytime, and evening appointments, Mondays through Thursdays.
